1998 - Awarded in 1999 The National Genealogical Society (US) Newsletter Competition. HONORABLE MENTION. The NGS 1999 Award for its Newsletter Competition for Major Genealogical Societies -- HONORABLE MENTION -- was presented to Anglo-Celtic Roots, Editor Percy Bateson.

1999
The Elizabeth Simpson Award. HIGHLY COMMENDED. The annual award of the Federation of Family History Societies (UK) for the best genealogical journal-- HIGHLY COMMENDED-- was presented in 1999 to BIFHSGO for the journal Anglo-Celtic Roots, Editor Percy Bateson. The certificate is signed by Elizabeth Simpson FSG.

2000
The National Genealogical Society (US) Newsletter Competition. HONORABLE MENTION. The NGS 2000 Award for its Newsletter Competition for Major Genealogical Societies -- HONORABLE MENTION -- was presented to Anglo-Celtic Roots, Percy Bateson, Editor. Signed by Shirley Langdon Wilcox, CG, President.

The National Genealogical Society (US) Newsletter Competition. RUNNER-UP. The NGS 2002 Award for its Newsletter Competition for Major Genealogical Societies -- RUNNER-UP -- was presented to Anglo-Celtic Roots, Percy Bateson, Editor. Signed by Curt B. Witcher, President. In this competition, Anglo-Celtic Roots received 287 points out of a possible 300, only one point less than the winning 288 points.

2002
"The National Genealogical Society (US) Newsletter Competition. RUNNER-UP. For the second consecutive year, the NGS 2003 Award for its Newsletter Competition for Major Genealogical Societies--RUNNER-UP-- was presented to Anglo-Celtic Roots. Congratulations to Editor Bob Grainger and his publishing team. We tied for this position, receiving 284 points of a possible 300. The many favourable comments from the judges included "good feature articles--strong genealogical focus'", "easy to read", and "well organized with varying topics of information". We received full marks in the areas of content, necessary information, writing, editing and proofreading, and organization."

2003

For the third consecutive year, the NGS 2004 Award for its Newsletter Competition for Major Genealogical Societies--RUNNER-UP- was presented to Anglo-Celtic Roots. Congratulations to Editor Irene Kellow Ip and her publishing team.

We tied for this position, receiving 282 points of a possible 300. One judge's comment: "This is a great newsletter."

This recognition is especially noteworthy for BIFHSGO as we are competing against many large family history societies, some with paid staff. Our team consists entirely of energetic and dedicated volunteers."

2004: First Place
After several Runner-up awards, Anglo-Celtic Roots was awarded First Place in the National Genealogy Society’s Newsletter Competition announced in 2005. Credit for this achievement goes to Irene Ip, Editor, Bert Hayward for his photography, Marg Burwell and Bob Johnston for the layout, Betty Warburton, Doug Hoddinott and Ernest Wiltshire for their columns, and to the proof-readers Trevor Butlin, Don Ross, Mary Holder, Susan Shenstone, Brian Watson, Ken Wood, Ted Smale, Anita Nevins, John Crookshanks, Dorothy Hepworth and Gordon Taylor. Ruth Kirk was also recognized for her contribution in helping to establish the high standard.

2006: First Place
Two years running, Anglo-Celtic Roots has been awarded First Place in the National Genealogy Society’s Newsletter Competition. Editor Emerita, Irene Kellow Ip, was the editor of the particular 2006 issues that were chosen for the competition. Well done, Irene and the ACR team! In 2006, Margaret Burwell and Bob Johnston were responsible for the layout, Bert Hayward for graphics, Trevor Butlin, Dorothy Hepworth, Mary Holder, Anita Nevins, Don Ross, Ted Smale, Brian Watson, Ernest Wiltshire and Ken Wood for proof-reading. Regular contributors were Gordon Taylor, Betty Warburton, Doug Hoddinott and Sharon Moor, Ernest Wiltshire and Elizabeth Kipp. The contributors of the interesting and informative material are to be congratulated too.
