| The Scotsman, Scotland's leading quality newspaper for more than 187 years, offers an unprecedented opportunity to delve back through Scottish and world history as reported in the pages of The Scotsman - right back to our first issue in 1817. The Scotsman Digital Archive contains every page of every issue of the paper between 1817 and 1900, in digital form. This web-based electronic archive, which displays each article as it originally appeared, will shortly be extended to 1950 and eventually to the present day. Making history as well as recording it, this will be the first time a UK newspaper has digitised its archive into a searchable format for public access. |
