Ed's Story PDF
Brenda's husband, Ed Cooke, was born in Lancashire, England, in 1936 as Edwin Bancroft. His parents divorced early during the war, and he arrived in Canada in March of 1947 with his mother, Ida, who had fallen in love with a Canadian bomber pilot based in Yorkshire. Ed lost all contact with his birth father, William Victor James Bancroft, and all of his father's family, as a result of that emigration. In 1997, after his mother's death and his own retirement, Ed began in earnest to search for information about his father and his father's family in Lancashire. The handout contains information about South Africa and Michael Worsnip and his experiences in the fight against apartheid and what he is doing now as a leader in restorative justice.
