New Features

This page provides links to additional information and ideas for BIFHSGO Conference 2022.

Conference Map

Why do we need a map for a virtual conference, you ask... This is an interactive world map that allows conference attendees and BIFHSGO members and supporters to attach ancestral surnames of interest and contact information to a location. The object of doing this is to see if other attendees and contacts have genealogical interests in the same geographical area.

Give it a try! Go to the conference map and the instructions for using it. See who may be researching in the same area as you! If you have any questions, contact BIFHSGO Queries.

Interactive Session with LAC/OPL about Ādisōke

At an interactive session on Wednesday, 28 September, Library and Archives Canada and the Ottawa Public Library will present the plans for their new joint facility, Ādisōke (Anishinaabemowin for “storytelling”), which will open in 2026. As Ādisōke’s genealogy services will be offered by both institutions in the same space, the speakers will ask conference attendees to contribute to “co-designing” these services by describing what their ideal “service journey” through the new facility might look like. Questions may cover: how users prepare for research, what they expect to see in research spaces, and what resources and help they need in support of their projects. The session will end with a Q&A.
